The Fit is not a car that was built to "whoop" anybody. Unless you are
speaking about engineering or build quality or possibly resale value in 5
or 6 years. Newer VW's are not known for their reliability and resale is
bad. I just go by what I see around here on the streets. An old VW is a
rare thing, but I see plenty of old Honda's running around. I would
suggest you start looking at the VW group.

OLD VW'S ARE A RARE THING??? You must be blind, deaf, and dumb. I pass several 30+ year old VWs on
the road every day, and I only drive an average of 1 hour a day!

Which is about the price of the Fit when you go to actually pay for it, jackass. Face it, the Fit
is a cheap SCAM with a high price tag. I'm not stupid enough to pay for that shit.

Not sure about US pricing, but the Fit/Jazz is still superior to the VW in
the UK. I know owners of both. I've been in both. Honda is more
versatile and more reliable and cheaper to run. In my opinion better built
    too. Not really a 'whoopin'.

If you don't like em, don't buy one.

I said NEWER VW's not the old beetle . I even had an old beetle myself . It
did'nt do to well with a/c here in Phoenix. It was '74 super beetle. I hope
that you have many happy years with VW's, I know I love my Honda.

You are very right in what you said Skippy. A friend of mine bought his Fit
sport for an " on the road price of $19084 USD ,that includes all dealer
charges , tax and license. If I figure correctly that would be about 10232
pounds. Car has all options including automatic trans. Spaz is free to
    drive what ever he wants.

I am not a jack but you can kiss my ass anyway. How old are you about 20 or
    is that your IQ.

    Thanks Scott

That would be a pretty good price for one over here! The UK version of the
sport (1.4 DSI) automatic is just under £13000. Still good for the money
though. My VW owning friend is amazed by the magic seats*, the fuel
economy, the fact that the only reason I've been to the dealer is to get the
alloys refurbished... Oh and to have a drool over the new Civic!! (European
hatchback appears very different from US Civic)

    * I ride bikes a lot, magic seats are so useful for transport.

Yes, the seats are the wonder of the car. And
it drives so well for small economy car. I also bike quite a bit, I have a
road bike that i ride on week ends. It is odd but the Civic Si that we get
here even though different from yours is made in the UK. I have looked at
the european version on the net and I wish we had it here.

Maybe now that VW is renaming the Gold to the Rabbit in the US they will
reopen the Pennsylvania assembly plant which built so many forgettable
cars in the 70s and 80s.

Competition for the Fit, I think not!

On carsdirect.com fully loaded Fit Sport (automatic was the only option
I could find) is 16,520 US
How could you manage to pay $20k for a Fit???
I think with the first place finish in a 6-7 econo car comparo run by
C&D Fit can be hardly classified as shit.
Don't need 5 doors? Honda would happily sell you Civic LX: $16,767
    (17,517 with automatic)

Or you could get Civic Si for under $22k to have the performance level
    of your beloved mazdaspeed 3.

Don't mind extra 150lbs? There is Mazda 3 for you.
High prices on Hondas are the end result of being a class leader in
    subcompact and
    compact segment.

I don't see why do you keep bitching about this.
