Would changing transmission fluid at every oil change hurt anything

Assuming you don't have the equipment to flush your transmission, you don't really change all your transmission fluid, only about half of it every time.

So, in reply to your question, if you do it yourself, maybe not every oil change, but certainly more often than recommended.
