I am looking for an older Honda Cvic, maybe 1.5L to get 30-40 mpg.

What year did the Civic get rid of the carb and switch to fuel injection?
    Any model years to avoid?

First year with FI was 1988. There's never been any real problem years with
    Civic fuel injection.
    Good luck.

First years for Honda's with PGM-FI (at least in the US)

    1985 Accord SEi
    1985 Prelude Si
    1985 CRX Si
    1986 Civic Si

PGM-FI became standard on the civic in 1988.
