To stripe or not to stripe

Quick question: I'm getting ready to have my '94 Accord EX 4-door repainted.
Should I have the factory pinstriping (2 thin lines side by side) re-done,
    or leave them off?

Mostly people who care, myself included go out of the way to take them off.
They looked horrible on my stubby 7th gen Si/Sir.

  3. There is *no* "factory pinstriping". It's a dealer rip-off and IMO looks
    tacky.

I'm inclined to agree with the two of you. I'm going to ditch it. Thanks.

I got the dealer pinstriping done when I bought mine in '91. Personally, I
thought it sort of improved the appearance of the car, as it visually broke
up the upper and lower halves.

Well, 14 years on and most of it's worn away. I'm debating with myself
whether to get it redone, or just remove it entirely.

You can see what's left, here:

(the striping on the LF fender is only 3 years old; fender repainted)

No, I don't think so. Mine look a lot like Tegger's. They're cracked and
faded to almost nothing in parts. Most of the really nice Accords (and other
Hondas) I've seen don't have them, so I started picturing the car without
them. I think I'll forgo them when I have the car repainted. Btw, is there
any way to get them off before the paint job?

An old credit card. Scrape away until they're gone. Use soap as a
lubricant. If there's old adhesive left behind, motor oil will dissolve
    that.

Try this on a relatively inconspicuous area first (like under the mirrors)
to make sure the paint won't mar.

    Leave her nekkid.

The black-on-black thing works great on older cars.

  10. I wouldn't want them myself, but it's your car after all.

What's up with the wiper arm loosing all the paint? most Hondas are like
that, including my last 3 civics.

prolly due to the flat black paint, and it being out in the open. its
kinda nestled in the airstream by the edge of the hood, so it gets all
that sun and wind. eaasy enough to hit up with BBQ black paint, tho.

I think it's mostly UV light eventually eroding the pint. My *rear* wiper
    is like that too.

I tried painting them with barbecue paint last year. It worked until the
temperature started getting cold again, then it all flaked off in very
    short order.

A possibility is getting the arms re-anodized, which a plating place can do
    for about $20-$30 per arm.

Dunno, but same thing here. Mask it off every 3-4 years and shoot it with
    flat black.

Mine too! My 96 Civic has lost almost all the paint on the arms.

Now I know that I drive fast, but this looks like sandblasting!

I'm going to the Dealer and have them re-painted! LOL!!!!!

Really now, I think some flat black aerosol is called for here.
