Tires for 2008 CR-V

Discussion in 'CR-V' started by Peaceful Bill, Jun 11, 2008.

  1. The OEM tires on my CR-V LX 2WD suck. Any suggestions for a better tire?

    TIA

  2. In what way do they suck? Handling, ride, mileage, appearance? What don't
they do that you want them to-- or what are they doing that you don't like?

What do you mean by "better"?

  4. Well shoot, let's buy the boy a roll of masking tape and a can of
appliance-white spray paint from Home Depot and move on to the next post...

Road noise is sort of a Honda trademark. I doubt you can do much about
    that.

Honda salesman told me they don't do a 2wd version so what's going on here?

A quick look at Edmunds.com shows a front wheel drive (2wd) and an all wheel
drive (AWD) version of each trim level for the 2008 CR-V. There has never
been a rear wheel drive only version.

Your salesman is either totally uninformed or just lying to try to sell you
what he has on the lot.

  11. Honda salesmen are fos. Mine told me they don't do a 2WD version of
    CR-V EX. But mine's a 2WD LX.

    Check Edmunds to be sure.

You were obviously told wrong. I bought it in Tempe, Arizona in November.

  16. The salesman said that the EX 2WD models were listed but weren't
available in the U.S. Clearly he was trying to steer me to a model that
was more available. I still had to wait six weeks to take delivery.

Do you trust a car salesman?

sorry, I'm in the UK, I guess this is a US version.

We have a 2 litre petrol anda 2.2 diesel (manual only)

All are a 2 wheel drive in normal driving and if it detects "slippage" drive
is fed through to the rears so not a "real" 4wd

Personally I'm more than happywith this as in around a years driving I've
felt the rears kick in twice for around a second or two.
I think this gives me security, comfort and the higher driving position of
a 4x4 without the drag, weight and complexity of other vehicles.

Its a bit of a standing joke in the UK about the bigger 4wd cars being
driven mainly by yummy mummys in london as that canyon outside Harrods can
be treacherous in the rain :)
