My daughter has a 1997 Civic EX. Last night it rained all night and when she
    left for school
this morning she called me and said her car acted like it didn't have any
    power and it was shaking.
she called me a little later and said it stopped and it was fine now. Do you
think the spark plug wires need replaced or maybe you could recommend
something else that it could be. I figure something got wet or humidity did
    something.
    Thanks,

Did the check engine light come on?. With that kind of miss fire there are
probably codes in the computer that will tell you which cylinders were miss
firing. If you have an Autozone they will usually read them for you...

Cap and rotor before wires. may just have dirt and oil on the
wires.Clean them with some silicone spray and a rag. (NOT W-D 40) bob

Check the distributer cap and see if it has any cracks or other signs of
damage. Also, check the wires that go into the distributor cap to
determine if there is any breaks in the insulation. If water gets into the
distributer, it can cause the types of problems you mentioned in your
post. Also, check the air filter after the next rain to see if it is damp
or wet. If a air cleaner is totally wet (saturated) the vehicle will NOT
    start.

take it to the dealer, if it's between 75,000 and 150,000 miles you
can get a free tune up and oil change under the 813 emmisiions
extension. it only applies to some cars in the 96-97 range but the
civic is one of them. the dealer doesn't always screw people, just
the ones that ask for it!!!!!!!!!!!
