  1. Stereotypes, if they were not somewhat true, would not be stereotypes.

Sitting, stopped at a signal controlled intersection yesterday. Traffic
crossing my path has the green. Their light changes to yellow/orange, and a
small sports car (which could have obviously entered the intersection
safely) decides to stop. The completely upsets the driver of the truck
behind him. He's on his horn, and raising the middle digit. I mean this guy
is pissed off. So much so, that he pitches his fast-food softdrink at the
car, a perfect carbonated shower. Driver of the car (who up till this act,
was simply ignoring the driver behind him) exits his car, much to the
delight of the truck driver, who also exits and advances upon the 'victim'.
The driver of the car proceeds to remove his jacket, only to reveal that he
is a uniformed officer of the law... My light changes, preventing me from
seeing the outcome of the altercation. I hope the law tosses the book at
    him...

  3. Don't lie, u were the idiot in the truck.

How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light:

    1. Hold trip/reset button on dash
    2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine
    3. Hold button til light goes out

Only when driving small Hondas, or in my case Acura Integra. When I drive
    the Pilot, doesn't happen.

It's your imagination! Got nothing to do with the vehicle - it was the
    driver stupid!

I apologize for referring to you as stupid.

It's just that your pejorative ananalysis is purely anecdotal. My
experience shows that there are just as many asshole drivers in compacts as
    in SUVs!

Simply a stereotype. no more than other auto-related stereotypes...

    Old man/lady....
    Corvette owners....
    soccer-moms....
    young drivers....
    <add your fav>...

Is there a stereotype for courteous drivers? Are Honda drivers
    'stereotyped' as being courteous?

At least *I* try to perpetuate that stereotype <G>

As a 01 Prelude driver, it seems to me that the drivers of large SUVS and
the like are more aggressive. But, that is simply a perception with no
empirical evidence. Your comment completely uncalled for -- an even more
extreme reaction than mine was originally.

Guess you didn't see my apology.

At least I'm not feeding the 'SUVs are a menace' hysteria.

  12. ==============

A truck driver once told me that any time he exited the cab, he
instinctively took a tire iron with him in his fist. That would make me
jump back into my car ! !

    Stay safe.

Getting away from 'Road Rage' aspect, and into stereotyping...

    Hummer Involved In Three-Vehicle Collision
    One Vehicle Knocked Off Road

    POSTED: 1:38 PM PST February 8, 2004
    UPDATED: 8:57 AM PST February 9, 2004

OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A vehicle landed in or near a lagoon after being
involved in a three-vehicle collision on a North County freeway Sunday, but
there were no injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.

The vehicle was one of two hit by a Hummer shortly after 11 a.m. on the
transition road from westbound State Route 78 to southbound Interstate 5 in
Oceanside, CHP Officer Larry Landeros said.

Apparently, the driver of the Hummer was in the far right lane, which feeds
into northbound I-5, and needed to get to the left lanes, which lead to the
    southbound coastal freeway, Landeros said.

It was unclear whether the vehicle that got knocked off the road wound up in
the water or landed in the thick reeds that line the bank.

    Driver pushed off road

    By: - North County Times

OCEANSIDE ---- A motorist's car was pushed off the roadway by a Hummer
Sunday but was not injured, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The collision happened just after 11 a.m. on the onramp to southbound
Interstate 5 from westbound Highway 78, Officer Larry Landeros said.

The driver of a Hummer apparently nearly missed the ramp and had to change
lanes to get into the turn lane, Landeros said. The sudden driving maneuver
caused the driver to hit two vehicles, and one was pushed off the roadway.

    My current rides are either:

    '90 CRX HF
    '96 Ford F350 Crew Cab

I find I'm more aggressive in the CRX, mostly because momentum is essential.
Drive the truck aggressively and that 11 mpg avg plummets

My usuals are a '96 Civic and occasionally my parents' '99 CR-v .. I do
notice I tend to zip around more in the Civic, mostly dodging the larger
trucks ;).. Well, that and I feel I'm less likely to flip the Civic over
