I plan on installing a rebuilt steering gear in my 1992 Honda Civic.
The only area of concern is how do I install the pinnion gear shaft in
the steering joint such that the steering wheel will be centered and
the wheels will be pointed straight forward?

I do have the Helm manual. It shows marking the original pinion shaft
at the column u-joint picn bolt. In my situation I am replacing the
steering gear with a different one. I assume that I can turn the old
and new pinion shaft to full lock and mark the new one in the same
position as the old one. Is this correct?

that should work fine. are you changing the gear ratio? if so, the
full lock positions will be different, but you should still be able to
    find center ok.
