Replacing hood on 2009 Accord Air Intake Hose

So I'm trying to do exactly what this guy is doing in the video. He does the hood transfer off camera and doesn't elaborate. My new air intake hose has those ports sealed, but otherwise it looks like the right part.

Am I supposed to cut holes in the rubber? And any tips for getting the hood off the old one? It looks pretty fused together.

Is it worth going to O'Reilly's for silicone spray or could I get by with soapy water?
