    Hi,

Our interior rearview mirror fell off the windshield. I was going to
replace it with the standard gluing kit I bought at an auto parts
store, but it looks like the mirror has a plastic backing instead of a
regular metal backing - presumably because it attaches not directly to
the glass, but onto some darker material that's silkscreened onto the
    glass.

Anyone have any experience with this? Can the standard mirror glue be
    used?

    Thanks.

Do this yourself and it will fall off again, guaranteed.

You're better off to allow an auto glass place to stick it back on for you.
They do this sort of thing every day of the week and have access to
materials and techniques the average man-in-the-street does not.

Just as an aside, are you certain your body warranty is up? If there's
still something remaining, it's Honda's problem, not yours. And even if it
is recently expired, some diplomatic palaver with your local dealership may
result in them asking Honda for a free out-of-warranty "goodwill" repair.

I mean, no mirror should be just falling off /any/ 2006 vehicle. This is
assuming the mirror was attached to the original windshield and was not
knocked off due to abuse, that is...

Good point. Yeah, I bet the dealer would do it. We bought the
vehicle "certified" less than a year ago. And it wasn't abuse that
knocked it off - it's pretty clear that there just wasn't much glue on
the thing in the first place.

    Thanks for the advice.
