    Hi,

    My 2001 prelude makes this hissing sound like a dental drill when I
    accelerate. I dont think its coming from the speakers, because I
    disconnected the stereo and it still happens. Can it be a fan clutch
    stuck? Would the fan sound that high pitched?

    I also occasionally smell exhaust inside the car.

    Thanks.

    ==============================

    Somebody left your air filter unlatched last time you had the oil
    changed? Intake can be noisy, that's (part of the reason) why it has all
    those cool chambers added.

    When's the last time we saw fan clutch? :-(

    jim means the tension may be too tight.

    If the belt was not replaced just prior to the onset of the noise, this is
    not the problem.

    usually, yes. but when belts are worn, they do this too.
