Just purchased a new vehicle and the dealer had a folder describing
a clear film that can be applied in frontal areas to eliminate the normal
dings, scratches, etc that appear over time. Dealer doesn't install,
    done by another shop.
Anyone have any experience/comments/whatever ? Sounds like a good idea
    if it really works.
    Thx

You might want to see what it looks like before having it done to your
    car.
Some new cars have such a film applied by the factory along the rocker
    panels and lower doors/fenders.
It works but doesn't enhance the look of the car, IMHO.

I've seen that on various cars up here. It seems to be very effective in
preventing stone damage to the paint it covers.

The problem appears to be longevity. The film is vinyl, so it eventually
shrinks and discolors with age. It does no damage to the underlying paint,
    but it looks unsightly.

Maybe the ones I saw just had a poorly-executed job, I don't know.
