My son has an Acura MDX ( Which I believe is similar to the Honda Odyssey)
and he wants to put a "s-car-go" type enclosed cartop carrier on it.
The MDX has no gutter, nor any ridges etc. to which we might affix the
straps. His model did not come with a car-top carrier in place.

Any one here solved the problem?? Help please, as his trip approaches the
end of this week. Thanks RG

    RG,
Can't the dealer where he bought it come up with a solution? If i bought
a brand new Acura, I'd expect the dealer to be helpful.
Here in Edmonton, there's a place called 'Racks For Cars', and their
catalog has the answers to ALL such questions. If you're near a major
city, check the Yellow pages. Google Search should find your answer too.

The S-Cargo mounts on a factory type roof rack as it has clamps to fit the
cross bars. If you have nothing up there, you'll have to install either a
yakima/thule rack system, or install a factory type roof rack.....depending
on the installation flexibility, side rails may also be the minimum you
need...but my friends who have these clamshell roof boxes all have them
    affixed to cross bars.

    RG,
I've never dealt with this outfit, but they have an OEM carrier for '02,
    '03 MDX:

    http://www.handaaccessories.com/mdx03.html

Claims to be the same one as the Acura dealer so your dealer should be
able to get it too .....

Also check out the after market rack systems from Thule or Yakima.

    yakima.com or thuleracks.com.

You can get ANY type of carrier adapter to fit onto either ones tubes that
mount to every type of car.

    Good Thuling!
