I need to swap out odometer cable on a 2001 CRV - is this easily accessible
under the dash... mechanically incline but is this a job for an amateur or
should I have dealer do it. thanks

I am quite sure you don't have an odometer cable. Both the speedometer
and the odometer are electronic and get their signal from the vehicle
speed sensor located on the transmission. Why do you want to replace the
    odometer cable?

Speedometer is analog not digital - and it seems to be making a noise - in
the old days - we just lubricated or replaced cable...

    TGS,

Honest, there is no cable in your CRV. Maybe a thorough description of
your problem would be the best place to start . . . . Somebody around
here is bound to have a helpful answer.

www.hondasuv.com would be another good place to describe the noise.

I don't think so! As far as I know, all modern Honda's have a pickup sensor
and the speedometer and odo are electronic.

Agree, but the *gauge* is still analog. As a side note, the Prelude in
the early 90's actually used a conventional speedometer cable and had
the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) mounted in the instrument cluster.

I have to second that. I just removed my dash to put in a tach, and
it's all electrical, no cables to be found anywhere.
