I bought the car in March. I just noticed that there is no lock on the glove
box? Has that always been the case for the Civic EX line? I know it's a
'cheap' car but how much extra would a lock cost? I wonder if there is a way
    to put one on?

Lock the doors when you leave the car.

It's called "de-contenting" which is a way to save $$ over all on a
production run of a car. Notice most new cars do NOT have a passenger
side key-hole anymore ? Honda added aluminum wheels to the EX Civic line
(they did years ago too) to compete since the Focus has them on MANY
models for less $$. The Koreans too !

if somebody breaks into your car they will break the lock to get into the
glove box, but if their is no lock they will just open it . thisway you dont
have to pay for a broken lock.. also, i never saw a car that didnt have a
passenger side lock before. what do u do if the drivers side lock freezes in
    the winter?
