New noises and where to get maintenance

I have a '97 Accord with 94k miles on it. Recently I've heard dull
vibrations coming from underneath the car as I'm accellerating, especially
uphill. Also the accellerations in general have been getting louder. Any
ideas as to what it is?

On another note, should I go to the honda dealers or any reputable auto
shop (Auto Zone, etc) for repairs and maintenance.

Sometimes it does happen right after start up.

Is it the same noise you hear about five seconds after starting, or when
you get rolling at low speed (ABS system charging up) ? ? ?

Perform the Lamp Check, to be sure your idiot lights are all working.
    It's in the Owner's Manual.

AutoZone does not do repairs or maintenance.
Find an independent reapir shop in your area that specializes in Honda and has a
good reputation. Then be a good customer to them.

I second the motion! Stay away from anybody who has a smiling
front-end man taking your repair order and a pack of union mechanics
in the back. Look for an owner-operated well-equipped shop in an
obscure location. Not a service station selling gas and potato chips.
You want a place that gets absolutely NO walk-in business because
nobody knows where it is. Such places depend on word of mouth
advertising from satisfied customers. Ask the members of a local Honda
Club if you can find one, they'll know who you can trust.

    Thanks everyone.

I was referred to a good mechanic who showed me that the it was an
intermediate pipe that broke and was replaced and everything sounds smooth
    now.

    Thanks for all the help
