I'm thinking of buying a new Element (with stick shift). Any advice
from this group would be appreciated.

BTW - also considering a CRV or Toyota RAV4 (but am partial to a stick
shift - so kinda points to an Element).

I just bought a 4wd automatic EX. The automatic gets slightly better gas
mileage due to a taller final gear ratio, however if you prefer the stick,
go for it! They are awesome and very safe vehicles.

check out http://www.elementownersclub.com/ There is a pic of an element
that rolled 3 times and it was still intact, occupants only receiving slight
    scratches and bruising.

A stick shift can be very tiresome in stop and go traffic...pressing clutch
    when you are creeping!

Sure. And it also affords you much better control of the vehicle, and
connects you more closely to the driving experience.

I drive over 25,000 miles per year, and prefer a manual transmission. It
is far more fun to drive, especially if you don't deal in a lot of stop
    and go traffic...

    It's all about personal preference...

  6. I have a 2005 AWD EX manual and I love it. 26,000 miles on the odometer and
not a single problem so far.

Yeah, OK, but what caused it to roll?

According the person that posted the photo, it got t-boned by a minivan at a
    high rate of speed.

Blown over by a gust of wind?
OK for urban driving; not high speed highway.
