My 2010 CR-V has gone through 4 starter motors since Dec 2021. Two Honda dealers plus 1 local mechanic cannot diagnose the source of the problem. A new battery was installed Jan/2024. The car has always been reliable, and has been very well maintained. There are 275,000 km, but mostly highway. The cold battery tests at 12.6 volts. Honda mechanics say the starter brushes are likely burned out from drawing excessive amps. A local mechanic speculates that the flywheel is not aligned properly so it is drawing more cold cranking amps to adequately spin. Honda Canada advises I talk to a Honda dealer! Starter #3 lasted just 3 weeks. I have an appointment next week with a 4th mechanic to test the power cable amperage draw. Any advice will be very welcome. I am buying a new vehicle but wish to donate a reasonably reliable car to a family friend.
