Lug nut on Costco rim - Which to use?

Got Costco winter rims for my Civic (185/65/15). I know that Honda use
a ball taper but the fella from Costco tire shop said that my original
    Honda lug nuts will fit.
Alas... I have looked at my spare wheel and it seems to me that a
profile for the nut is a bit different from that of Costco. Moreover
the stud hole diameter is a bit bigger in spare tire rim than in
    Costco rim.
So, can I use the original nuts on Costco rims or the fella was wrong?

You MUST use the correct nut profile for the WHEEL (not "rim") in question.

If the wrong nut profile is used, the nuts will work loose as you drive.

If the Costco wheels have the wrong nut profile, then you need to either
buy the correct Costco nuts (surely they have them), or revert to used
original Honda wheels obtained from a local wrecking yard. Used OEM wheels
are surely cheaper than Costco's crappy aftermarket, will be easy on your
Honda's wheel bearings, and will take your OEM lug nuts.
