Wrote in quite awhile ago trying to figure out a "winter tire noise" from
the front of our 2001 Civic - sounded like the lugs on a winter tire humming
against the pavement. Slowly but surely, it became progressively worse
until it was unbearable - notwithstanding several attempts (new tires -
twice, brakes, shocks) to get rid of it, and no mechanic being able to
    diagnose it.

    YOU GUYS WERE RIGHT!!!

Someone here, back then, suggested a defective wheel bearing. Well
waddayaknow - Honda must have finally got enough of them coming in, they
decided to finally freaking agree - they replaced it under warranty @ 79,000
    km.

    No more noise.

    Yay.
    Thanks, everyone!
    :)

It would be a public service if you please would post the name and location
of the dealer who took so long correctly to diagnose your problem. So those
of us living nearby could avoid that particular service department. Thanks
    in advance.
