Hey everyone, I’m working on my buddies 2017 Honda crv LX fwd with the 2.4l engine in it. Two months ago I changed the spark plugs on it just for routine maintenance, and now it’s got a weird intermittent misfire. Usually happens after about 20-30 mins of driving, specifically when you hit the gas a little hard like if you’re trying to go around someone, the revs drop like it’s in limp mode and the check engine light starts flashing, but if you pill over turn it off and turn it back on it’s running fine. I monitored the misfire data with my scanner and noticed cylinders 1 and 3 were the main ones misfiring, cylinder one showing roughly 30 misfires after about a 30 min drive and cylinder 3 showing around 170 misfires. Tried swapping the ignition coils around to see if the misfires changed cylinders and it stayed on 1 and 3, so we decided to throw a new injector on cylinders 1 and 3. After replacing the injectors I took it on the highway and drove it another 30 mins and noticed the misfires were pretty much gone, but as I got back on the highway to head back home i hit the gas again and the revs dropped like it’s in limp mode once again, and the check engine light started flashing. Pulled over turned it off turned it back on and it was running fine again. Has anyone experienced this? He had another mechanic recommend the fuel pump but I feel like if it was the fuel pump we’d have misfires on all cylinders. It’s also odd because the codes never store, he’s even had the dealer look at it but they weren’t able to replicate the concern and no codes were stored for them to go off of
