  3. I've only got 149,000 miles on my '94 GS-R but those are some tough
miles and I only change the oil twice a year. (I do use Mobil 1.) I
just had to have the bearings replaced in the transmission but other
    than that no powertrain problems.

My current '87 Accord is just past 410,000 km on the original engine.
My first one was at 478,000 km when I wrote it off - if that hadn't
happened, the half-million point was well within reach.

There's a guy on 3geez.com with a family Accord that has passed the
    million-km mark.

Another has a pic posted of his odometer at 465,000 miles (744,000 km)

  5. Is your '87 carbureted or fuel-injected? A friend of mine put almost
500,000 hard-driven, abusive but yet still very reliable kilometers on his
carbureted '86 Accord automatic. Engine and tranny remained original and
were still in great shape when he ditched it a few years ago. If the rust
hadn't caught up with it, I am sure it would still be on the road today.

My '93 Accord at 228,000km is not even broken in yet. :)

All three of mine have been carb'd '87 Accord LX models, two of them
    sedans, the latest a hatchback.

The million-k car mentioned above is a carb'd '87 LX as well.

Nice site. I've been surfing recently, and I guess there
are dozens (hundreds?) of these privately sponsored,
Honda-dedicated, free registration and posting fora on the
net. They seem a little heavy on the "ricers," and the crowd
seems a bit young (a comment on vocabulary, not necessarily
expertise), but there's still good information on them, from
    what I've seen.

I am the original owner of a 91 Civic LX Sedan with a plain
    vanilla 178k miles (= 287k kilometers).

I still have the original transmission bearings. My mechanic says they're
getting a bit noisy, but they'll go a couple of more years easily. Myself,
I can hardly hear the bearings over the gear noise, but my ears are bad,
    so...

My guy says when the bearings are direly in need of replacement, they will
howl like a bad wheel bearing. I had a bearing go bad in two different
Toyota T50 transmisisons, so I know what that sounds like.
