I watched a portion of a newscast from the new auto show. And Honda's
new Ridgeline truck looks sweet. and appears to be pretty well equiped
with a sticker price of 28k or so.

Probably based on the Pilot/Ody platform, no? Looks interesting, but I
wonder about that bed-based 'trunk' and crap getting into it, you'd
think that it'd fill up with debris over time, have enough of that
happen in normal trunks let alone a bed of a truck.. A lot of people
seem to complain about the high sides on the bed.

Overall I don't care for the way some of the dashes are going these
days with the faux metal trim pieces, the Pilot was getting a little
annoying to me but I bit the bullet and got one anyhow.

Honda is probably introducing a 'crew cab' first because it means more
$$$ but are they going to make extended and regular cab versions later
    this year if ever?

if it sells well enough, maybe. doubt it tho. most dodge truck sales are
4 doors, but they also sell a basic 2 door.

I figured the Ridgeline would be competing with the Tundra and Titan
more than Dodges to keep Accord and Acura drivers in the Honda family.
I don't know if the sales figures match up to what I see on the road
but most Tundras I've seen on the road are extended cabs, very few crew
cabs, but the few Titans were crew cabs.

I'm not a truck guy, but the Ridgeline does not appear to be a crew cab,
extended, yes; crew, no. It is also not built on a shared chassis. It is a
unit body set on a boxed frame. Check out www.vtec.net and www.honda.com .
The bed looks shorter than it is because of the 4 door cabin and the almost
    Avalanche like sails.

If that's how the Ridgeline is in real life it looks like my waiting for a
Honda pickup truck has been in vain. I don't want an SUV with the back
    scooped out.

the tundra has only been available as a crew cab for a relatively short
time now, i *think*. given tundra reliability and customer satifaction,
people tend to drive toyotas longer before trading/selling. another
factor is price. tundras arent cheap to begin with.

dont forget the "fake" 4WD! its going to be a transverse mount engine,
like practically every other honda since the beginning of time.

kinda like a buff, hopped up subaru brat.
