Honda Prelude Engine Swap

Discussion in 'Prelude' started by marcus_hardinge, May 24, 2007.

  1. I wonder if anyone can help answer my query. I am a big fan of
Preludes and have owned several over the past few years and during
those years I have acquired the skills to maintain and fix my preludes
    with basic expertise.

I would like to enter the next phase and get down to the real nitty
gritty and do an engine swap.

I currently own a Honda Prelude Gen 4 1994 reg. It is a meager 2 litre
with a F22A1 spec engine. I would like to boost the car by
chucking out the old one and inserting an H22A engine from a Gen 5
    VTEC.

First question, is this possible with the vehicle's current bay
structure or do I have customize it in order to accomodate the new
    engine?

Second question, providing I do not get put off by the response to the
first question, what other components and parts must be changed in
order to get the best out of the new engine?

I know that buying the 5th gen would be cheaper but I am not concerned
about that. I just want to play!!!!! :D

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Marcus.
