Honda Accord 1987 - PCV valve grommet

I don't know if my previous post went through so bear with me if this
    is a duplicate post.

I'm replacing the PCV valve of my '87 Accord LX. After pulling the
valve I discovered that the grommet was very brittle and inadequate
for providing proper seating/sealing for the valve, so I decided to
    replace it.

The problem is to get the grommet out in one piece... it keeps
breaking in pieces. My concern is that pieces may fall inside the
intake manifold PCV valve hole. I noticed that the valve connects
through the manifold to a tube underneath... the grommet sits between
the manifold and this tube. All of the upper lip of the grommet has
ed and fallen off in pieces. Will I have to remove the manifold in
order to get the lower part of the grommet?

    Please help!

    Regards,
    MC

  2. I have never tried to do this type of work on a 1987 Honda Accord. My
suggestion based upon what you wrote is to go ahead and remove the
manifold. You should buy a new manifold gasket prior to removing the
    manifold.
