Early morning, it takes some effort to engage the First and Second gear. but
after sometime it can shift in and out easily.

Again in the afternoon if after a long rest of 3 hours , it happens again.

Could some experts shed some light on it.

I believe first thing you should do is to have the mechanic drain out the
transimission fluid and replace it with new fluid. The mechanic should
also clean or replace the filter. You did not mention the year your
vehicle was made. On some older transmissions--it's possible for a
mechanic to adjust the bands. It's not possible to adjust the bands on
some transmissions. I once owned a 1969 Chevy Nova and had to have the
bands adjusted at least once a year.

Repost after you have done this to tell us the results.

My guess is he has a manual transmission and the clutch is going.

If you recently had a trans service done make sure the tech used
Honda's manual trans fluid and NOT gear lube.
