    Hey guys,

The most bizzare, messed up thing happened to me yesterday. I live in
Houston, TX and I had to get my car inspected. I took it to this sorry ass
shop that said it did State Inspections. They said that my headlights
weren't DLT approved (he looked at the bulb), and I failed and STILL had to
pay. I told these assholes that I've had the same headlights for the past 3
years and never got anything like that. My headlights are Xenon-like lights,
brighter than original Honda Civic 92 lights and have a cool blue tinge to
them. The originals were 60W-100W, these are 80W-100W.

So I went where I got my inspection last year and had no problem, but the
guy at the second shop saw that I was previously denied and asked me about
it. I told him the story and he's like yeah I was going to tell you
something. So I asked him what was DLT standards and he basically told me
that my low beams exceed what the standard highbeams are suppose to be. But
then I told him the old ones were 60W-100W and the new ones are 80W-100W. He
couldn't say anything, just gave me that look like "Oh, OK then."

So where can I find out what the hell the DLT standards are and try to get
    my $40 bucks back?

Any form of feedback is appreciated,

    Dave

    Just do what I do
Turn on your high beams and drive straight at them.
Then turn around and follow them home.
when they stop their car take out your tire iron
    and break out their headlights.
Warn them if they buy the same type again you'll
hunt them down and kill them.

    Works everythime

    Sincerely,
    Butch.

  4. Well, that's your problem. The "cool blue tinge" all by itself is enough
to make the bulbs non-DOT legal.

Also, it may have changed, but the standard wattage for DOT road-legal
headlights is 55/60w (55 low beam, 60 high). Yours are way, way high.

The blue lights on really expensive cars are basically mercury vapor
lights with the Xenon injected for use before the mercury heats up. The
ballast system that runs these is way expensive.
