Disable Accord Emergency Alarm

Discussion in 'Accord' started by SpongeBob SquarePants Rules!, May 20, 2004.

  1. Is there any way to disable the "Emergency" alarm on a newer model Accord?
That's the obnoxious alarm that runs when you accidentally activate it on
the key chain. The braniac engineer who thought this system up should have
allowed car owners to turn it off. Thanks

Try taking the remote apart and removing that red piece of plastic.
You probably will not need to destroy or cut anything.

  4. Great idea, thanks.

With regards to the previous reply, activating the alarm doesn't happen
often. If you have a set of keys in your pocket, another key will press on
it and acticate the very loud alarm. I have no use for the alarm, but I do
know some people like having it. You'd think with all the technology today,
that car manufacturers would have a control panel to do basic diagnostics
and disable unwanted functionality. I imagine they could easily do that, but
    dealers have probably objected.

I suppose it is coins or other keys in my pocket.
I've set it off three times, which was enough to make me put a drop of
superglue on it. No more problems since then.

It mostly comes down to cost, where to stop adding features, and I'll
say again, cost. There's some things that are just left out because
it won't help them sell more cars or make more money.
