Creaking noise turning the steering wheel to the extremes

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by A Rangers Fan, Feb 28, 2005.

  1. I had my power steering rack replaced ~ 7000 miles ago. I'm literally 12
miles away from passing 36k (warranty expiration), and now there's
another problem - when I turn the steering wheel to the extremes, I hear
a loud creaking noise. Any ideas what it could be? Just want to be armed
with information before I take it to the dealer! Thanks!

It is probably your CV joint. Get that fixed, because it can be
dangerous when it starts binding (often wheels start to pull in one
    direction suddenly).

    1) Model of vehicle?
    2) Year of vehicle?
    3) Why was the rack replaced?
    4) Is the "36K" the warranty for the CAR or the RACK?
    5) Have the driveshafts or their boots been inspected or replaced at any
    time?
