Compatible tape decks for Honda

Just got an Odyssey and like many autos, it only comes with a CD
player. I can install the honda tape deck, but the best price I've
found was $132. Does anyone know of a compatible brand or a cheaper
    alternative?

I do not want to replace the entire audio unit - I just want to add
    the tape deck.

    Thanks

I won't make the obvious comment about using a cassette player.....take the
$132 price and order the item. If it had been a CD player you were after
that number would be at least $100 higher. The market just has very little
use for cassette players any more, especially for the application you seek.

    L,

Since you didn't mention what year of Odyssey you've bought, we can't
picture whether it's got a single or double-high stereo in it. Either
way, you could get a double-high CD/cassette off eBay (if you're in
Amerika) for a reasonable price and install it yourself. Just make sure
you write down the serial number and reference number in case you have
to get the lockout CODE from Honda (or Acura, same stereos)

    I have a spare cassette add-on deck, which fits '95 - '97 Odysseys,
which have the round 'DIN' connector. It would go in the place of the
storage slot under your stereo, if you have one. I'm in western Canada.

Regarding stage performances: When everyone else has finished playing,
you should not play any notes you have left over. -

I've got a 2003 - so it is a single high stack. I took it out last
night to try and hook up an old Alpine CD changer I have, but the
changer has the round din connector and the radio has a rectangular
    connector.

Think I may just convert the tapes over to CD and try to find an
    adaptor cable for the changer.

    Thanks

  5. 'L',
The single cassette with the rectangular blue connector is available on
eBay from time to time. It was provided for Honda's from '98 and newer,
so they're out there. You probably won't get an 'adapter' because the
    communication protocol is different (probably).
