changing belts on honda passport

    In stupidity i decided to change my own belts and it went ok but when i
    crank my truck now it smokes a lil bit and you can smell burning rubber
    anyone got any ideas why

    They're just too loose. They have to be VERY tight, compared to the kind
    on cars from twenty years ago.

  3. My guess would be that they're too tight. The OP didn't mention if
    there was any squealing or not. In my experience too tight doesn't have
    any immediate symptoms but can lead to loud pump bearings after a
    while. While loose belts tend to squeal.

    What happens after you're done cranking? Does it quit? Does it even
    start? In either case, need more info and you're belts are misadjusted
    (whether tight or loose).

    What? No. NO. Serpentine belts are not as tight as V-belts.
