I have a terrible squel coming from the rear brake pads, but I only
hear it with I lightly apply the brakes (as in coasting stop and go
traffic) my brakes feel good, no vibration, no sounds @ all with
    normal semi hard stop.

I have a 2001 Accord EX/V6 with only 30k miles on it, could it be time
to replace the brakes already, but i have no symptoms other than a
terrible noise when light pressure is applied to the brakes. never had
this symptom with brakes going bad.

also I was thinkning just replace the rear brakes with some good
quality after market brakes from Autozone, but there are diffrent
models and I'm not sure which one to chose, any suggestions on what
this could be or what kind of rear pads I should use.

    thanks in advance

Usaully brakes don't wear till around 50,000 or 60,000. But if you do a
lot of long distance driving you can get a lot of debirs that can
possibly damage your brake pads. Most likely that your pads are glazed
over. This is something Honda does from the factory. Be sure to check
the fluid levels first and for most.

    - Do the brake pads squeal constantly even over like 10-15 miles of
driving or just the first 5-6 stops in the morning?

They squeal all the time, first start, diving after a while... no
difference at all. I drive 75 miles round trip to work, sometimes
traffic can be pretty bad and I'm driving like 5~10mph... stoping
slowly, starting slowly, this is when it squeals the most. If I do a
normal speed stop (like coming to a stop light) no sound at all.
sometimes I can put very light pressure on the brakes and make them
squeal and when I let off on the brake they continue to squeal for
about 2 sec, almost like the caliper is not opening up completly or
    fast enough

If the pads are glazed can I fix them or is it better to replace them?
if so what kind should I use, semi-metallic, ceramic, etc...

    thanks for the advice

  4. If you read your owner manual it will tell you that the wear indicators on
the pads make a squealing sound.
The rear pads are small - 40K is fairly normal for moderate brake use *and*
even wear of the pads. Uneven wear of the pads happens frequently - the
    inner pads wear quicker.
What's the savings in the Autozone branded crap? Sorry to be so blunt but
that damned store annoys the hell out of me - they "push" a lot of cheap
substandard junk and never have the brand names I want. Seriously, get the
Honda pads and if you don't DIY, get at least a good independent who
specializes in Hondas to do the work. A bad brake job with cheap parts
    will make your life miserable.

If there's still a lot of material left, you can kill the glaze by
lightly sanding the pad surfaces, then you have to break them in again
(I did this several times with my Porsche 911).
