It would appear most buyers believe the Ford Explorer to be the
best, since it is the number one selling SUV in the world and has
been for many years.. However 'best' is relative. Depends on
what you needs are in a vehicle. I would test drive and get a
total drive home price for those that suits your needs and
budget, then decide which is best for you..

I know excatly what's the best one for me (size, gas mileage, price) but
that doesn't mean it's the best for you.

Every SUV has it's on specialty. There is no 'best' at everything.
Narrow down what you want it to do, then go drive them.

    Hi,
SUV for size? SUV for little extra safety being 4WD, AWD.
Honda, Subaru, Toyota, Jeep has little different kind.
Whatever you choose, I'd go for AWD type like Subaru.
Mid size? Mazda Tribute, Toyota Highlander?

THE BEST SUV IS THE CHEVY SUBURBAN,YOU CAN'T GO WRONG BECAUSE IT HAS POWER,
ROOM, SAFETY, IT COULD PULL BIG BOATS, LOTS OF CARGO ROOM AS IS OR JUST
REMOVE BACK SEATS AND LOWER THE MIDDLE ONES

Are you yelling so that we'll hear you over the sound of the tow truck
    pulling your chevy?

  11. Test drive the Honda Pilot and the CR-V and the SUVs made by Toyota. I
don't trust SUVs and cars made by any American company.

    Hi,
Best does not mean much. Define your purpose(intended use) first.
No budget concern? VW, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Porsche all make very
nice SUVs. No thanks to U.S. made headaches.

You have the right to your opinion but it is that of a minority.
More American buy Ford SUV's than any other. GM is second.
Foreign brand SUV's are far behind.

    Hi,
    I guess because of price.
American built SUVs are not just exciting.

If you're looking for a compact SUV, then according to all the research that
I've done there are only 3 top ones. For gas mileage, reliability, resale,
etc. they are: Subaru, RAV4, and the Honda CRV. According to Lemon-Aid and
Consumer Reports these three outperform all the others!

The Honda Element is by far roomier. And it is cheaper than the CRV

And that is only because they sell thousands to rental fleets, they offer
thousands in rebates, and GM, Ford, and Chrysler makes jillions of them.
Just look at the resale! True, the domestics and Toyota are the only ones
capable of doing any true towing or hauling, another reason people buy
SUV's. I like Ford and GM myself....just wish they made vehicles that held
up over the long haul (over 100,000 miles) without having to put serious
dollars into them. Sales statistics aren't indicative of quality.

Every manufacture has rebates and they ALL sell to fleets if they
can. No manufacture will get repeat business if their products
are no good. One hears that in the NG of EVERY brand almost
daily. Somebody is always saying don't' buy brand 'X,' the ONE I
owned was junk.' As to resale domestic do just as good as
imports, when the percentage of total 'drive home' price is
    considered.
