Speedo going bonkers or not working at all
Hard shifting
I see 2 speed sensors, 1 easy(ish) to get to and swap out.
The other, output sensor I presume, a bit harder to get to, probably going to need to jack it up.
Which one of these is the most likely culprit? It is 30 years old after all.
Swap out both perhaps? They don't seem awfully expensive, even for good quality non-Chikom ones.
