We're about to buy a 2004 Element from Koons Honda in Manassas.

Any opinions, pro or con, on this dealer?

  2. Does a black own the dealership?

How to turn off 'Maintenance Required" light:

    1. Hold trip/reset button on dash
    2. Turn key to "ON" or start engine
    3. Hold button til light goes out

I live less than 10 miles from them, but I bought my Civic si from Hendrick
    Honda in Woodbridge.

Partly because I paid $2200 for the same car & partly because I found the
salesdrones at Koons to be stuck in the 1950s, i.e. directing all of their
questions/comments to my boyfriend even after we explained that we were
shopping for a car for me & that I would be the one choosing & paying for the
    car.

And I drive the 45-60 minutes to Woodbridge for service because the one time
that I took it to Koons for service (ECU died in rush hour traffic in front of
Chipotle) it took them a week for fix the car, they scratched it & it had to go
back twice because they did not program it properly.

Of course, if you are a guy-person they might treat you a little better.

The car we're looking for -- Element EX, 4WD, side airbags -- is not that easy
to find. I checked the online inventory at Hendricks and they don't have one,
    but Koons does.

We're closing on a house in Haymarket this weekend, so we were going to pick up
the Element nearby. We'll need the extra cargo space for running around and
picking up stuff for the house.

I'm leery of the service department in any dealership. Every time I go to our
local Subaru dealer, they have a different service manager. The only car
company I ever got good service from was Saturn, but they've changed and are
    now just another car company.

So it's going to be an interesting weekend.

Hendricks gave me their demo Element to use a couple of times when my car was
in for service & that is one WEIRD vehicle! My boyfriend loved the headroom &
the way it rode, but I felt like I was riding in a bus.

I've had a lot of problems with my si & I am sure that the service guys cringe
when they see my name on a ticket, but they have always been 110% awesome.

Hopefully, you will get the same kind of service (but without all the
    manufacturing boo-boos) from Koons:)Robyn

If the salesman from Koons had read that maybe he wouldn't have made the
mistake of calling me at work to ask "has Scott decided whether he likes the
Cooper or the civic si better."

  9. I don't know how intertwined all the Koons dealerships are, but we had an
absolute nightmare dealing with the Koons Mazda store in Marlow Heights MD.
First off, every car on the lot had the dreaded second sticker in the window
with a $1690 "additional dealer markup" on it. Despite that, we pressed
ahead in our quest to buy a Mazda Tribute. We were there for about six
hours, and we must have had six different guys paraded in front of us in the
finance office trying to get payments down to what we wanted. Each one would
start out astronomically high, then work their way to almost what we wanted.
The frustration factor was off the chart, so we just tried to get out of
there, but they played a pretty good game of "hide the keys" with our
    trade-in, further delaying things.

It was thoroughly unsatisfying, and we've pledged that if we want to think
Mazdas again (we wound up getting a Hyundai Santa Fe), we'll go any distance
to get away from Koons, or any dealer that asks for an "additional dealer
    markup" on its cars.
