Alternative to 3497 Del Sol Auxiliary Lamp?

I've just replace my Auxiliary Lamp Bulbs for the second time in 3 months.
The stock 3497 lamps don't seem to be very bright (nor long-lived). With
all the new Xenon and LED-based products out, are there specific options I
should consider the next time the 3497's go dark?
