My 97 Civic DX (automatic) makes a "clunk" sound when i shift into drive. I changed the rear mount and the two lower mounts. This fixed the clunk when shifted into reverse, but its still there when i shift into drive. My question is.... Will changing the top mounts likely have an effect, or are they there for a different purpose. Upon visual inspection, neither one looks terrible. Is there a specific mount that the weight of the engine is placed on when shifted into drive? Should i have the tranny looked at instead?
