my car was broken into and was atempted to be stolen. I now have to replace
the ignition lock cylinder, the bolts that attach the lock part to the
steering column are very hard to remove. does anyone have any instructions
    on completeing this task????

If it's just the cylinder that's damaged, you don't need to remove the
    shear bolts.

If it's anything like the Civic: Put the key in, and turn it to "1". Remove
the tiny set screw from the underside of the lock body. Push in the small
pin on top, and withdraw the lock cylinder.

My Helm manual for the '96 is surprisingly vague on this point, so I'm
guessing it's the same as earlier models.
