2 questions:
Can a D16Y5 engine (from a 96-00 Civic HX) be put into my 91 Civic 2WD 5-spd wagon? Do the motor mounts match up? What other components am I going to have to get changed (Fuel injection, ecu, tranny, etc?)
Does anybody know of a good, reasonably priced shop in the Seattle area (as far south as Tacoma, as far north as Vancouver, BC) that will do the swap for me?
This car has only 108K miles on it, but the engine has had a head gasket leak for the last 50K miles. If I keep the original engine, it is gonna need a bunch of work--timing belt, water pump, alternator, radiator hoses, head gasket, and the A/C is out--so I thought a swap would get me a stronger, more fuel efficient motor for about the same cost. I don't want anything fast or fancy, just a reliable family hauler with a little more power than it has now.
