92-02 Accord Transmission problems

Hello all,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a 2000 Accord(in Canada), but have read many comments on the web regarding problems related to transmission failure on this model. Almost all of the comments I've read originate from Accord owners in the USA. So I have a few questions:

1. Is the transmission failure only occuring on Accord models in the USA?

2. Is the transmission failure occuring on any Accord models in Canada?

3. Are the Accord models that are sold in Canada coming from Japan or the USA?

4. The warranty extension, provided by Honda America, on 2000-2002 accord transmissions. Does it also apply to Honda Canada?

5. What is it exactly that is failing in the transmission?
