Trying to decipher the tow package options for our newly purchased 2021 Pilot Black edition. We ordered the 5000lb package through the dealer but can't get a straight answer as to what all is included. We've been told by the dealer we purchased from (after several discussions between sales and service) that the bumper integrated tow bar, transmission cooler, wiring harness, and foot sensor for the tailgate are included.

    Here's my questions:

    1. So far, they've installed a 3500lb tow bar and said as long as the transmission cooler is installed it's considered a 5000lb tow bar....does that sound incorrect to anyone else? (The nomenclature plate on the tow bar rates it as 3500lbs capacity)

    2. Another dealer gave us a quote, for less money, that included the receiver hitch and 2"ball as part of the 5000lb package...so does the 3500lb tow bar with a 2" ball receiver and transmission cooler increase the tow capacity?

My engineer brain is trying to figure out how a 3500lb rated tow bar can become a 5000lb tow bar by cooling the transmission and increasing the ball size.

Any links from Honda that provide the 5000lb tow package details would be appreciated, not having much luck finding anything in the googleverse.
