2003 Civic headlight/key reminder not working - fuse?

Discussion in 'Civic' started by Brian Beuchaw, Jan 21, 2006.

  1. Hello all,

Looked at the manual, Googled both the web and Usenet, checked out
tegger's site, but couldn't really find any info about this. It's my
wife's car and the headlight and key-in reminders/beepers stopped working
about a week or so ago (seatbelt reminder still works, though). I
checked the manual and there doesn't seem to be a fuse that is anywhere
close to the correct description. I really don't want to pull all the
fuses to check them if it's not even a fuse (I had read that it might be
the ICU). So is this something fixable by replacing a fuse (and if so,
which one) or should we just take it in to the dealer (still under
    warranty, I'm pretty sure)?

    Thanks for any info...

  2. Does your dome light come on when you open the driver's door? If not,
then the door switch (on the inside of the frame) probably needs
lubricating. That switch affects all of those functions.

  3. Yeah, the light does come on (glad you thought of it, though, 'cos I
hadn't). Thanks for trying, though, but I think she's just gonna take it
in to the dealer (like I said, I think it's still under warranty).

  4. ---------------------------

Have you tried lubricating the ignition lock with Lockease, or another
suitable graphite-based lube? Maybe somebody put some dino-based stuff
in there and now it's gummed up and the switch is hanging up?

  5. Haven't tried that, but neither she nor I would do that, and the only
place she's had the car in for service is the dealer and I doubt they'd do
that either (yeah, I know, you never know with them). The key does slide
in and out just fine with no perceptible gummi/stickiness (I tried it
    yesterday). Thanks, though.
