Have there been recalls for the 2003 Accord? I got mine in Early April 2003
(Canada)

thanks

what are the recalls concerning and when did you guys receive notice?

I got an EX-l in January in Toronto (from a Honda Dealer in Markham)
having lots of problems with it including the following

- had to get the windshield replaced
- the whole 6 cd in dash replaced and then the panelling where the so called
mechanics damaged the stereo
- replaced wipers
- gearshift release button locked and couldn't move into D or R - loose
wires
- last weekend whilst cleaning the whole car - i saw that the rear passenger
door interior is different to the rest of the car - its grey instead of
black

i've been arguing with the dealer and Honda Manufcaturing - they just say
they'll fix it
I had the car in the dealer 7 times in the first 4 months i had it !!

is there anything else i can do - I want them to replace the car
the reson i bought a new car was so i wouldn't have to put up with this crap
anyone else been in a similar situation

thanks
alex

Hi Alex, wow you got me concerned. I have had issues with my windshield -
the fact that it gets dirty a lot and it doesn't clean...but im sure thats
just common in any car! but it seems the windshield gets dirty more then
most. could you describe more in detail why the following happened to your
car? thanks.

Did you get the car from North Markham? I got mine from Formula Honda...I'm
wondering if I should take it in just to get checked anyways....

Yes did you get yours from North Markham Honda? My sister just got a
Civic but has had no problems from them. I have heard there service
just went down hill since they changed owners and the service staff
basically all left.

I have heard good things about Formula Honda though on Markham Road in
Scarborough.

With the windows getting dirty that is sometimes due to the plastics.
Being a new car the plastics can cause the windows to dirty easily.

yes I got my car from North Markham Honda - and will never use them again -
the sales guy was great and really helpful but the customer service has
always sucked.

several times when i've taken the car in they have damaged something else
and then i have to wait for the new part to come in.

i'm suprised with a business that relies upon word of mouth can be so bad as
i will never recommend them to anyone and discourage anybody considering
buying from them.

there has been some serious lack of quality assurance on my car whether its
at the manufacturing end or at the dealer i don't know but as i said before
i think you should spot if the interoir color of a door is different to the
rest of the car!!

regarding the windshield - haven't really noticed the dirt
if that was the only problem i had I'd be laughing!!

Whats a good Honda dealer then? What about Parkway Honda or Roadsport
Honda?

Very disappointing. We have two Civics -- 02 and 03 and a 01 Prelude.
Absolutely flawless.... with no problems. Perhaps the new Accord has to be
sorted out still.

Was 2001 the last year for the Prelude? I'm interested
in looking at Honda vehicles for my wife, and the 2000
model Prelude that I've seen is an extremely nice looking
vehicle. It's unfortunate they dropped the car, but I suppose
the two door Accord and/or the S2000 is supposed to
be the replacement. The S2000 is nice, but a bit rich
for my blood.

Stay away from Roadsport. I haven't heard anything about Parkway but I
have heard good things about Formula Honda on Markham Road. A service
advisor at an Acura dealer uses them. She takes her Civic to them and
says the service guys there are great. If she thought they were doing
a terrible job there's no way she would go there. She says DO NOT use
North Markham Honda, service has gone downhill since they changed
owners.

Have you looked at an Acura TSX or are you looking for only a two
door? The TSX is a great car. i test drove one and was amazed at the
power the 4 cyl had. 200 hp for a 4 is amazing. The suspension and
handling were things you could never find in a GM, Ford or Chrysler.

come drive out to Waterloo. great service, great sales people. I can go in
every 3 months for an oil change, and they remember me, my car, very
courteous. Never had a problem with them. They even cut me a break on my
93 civic when the head went.

where have you been hiding. Acura doesn't make cars, they just sell them.
It's just another Honad but with a new badge so us snooty people in north
amereica can feel good about ourselves. i mean, who'd pay 40+G for a Honda?
Now an Acura - well crap, sign me up. they don't separate the cars in Japan
like we do.

Actually, my wife probably prefers a 4 door, unless the car
is a dedicated "sports" car. I've thought about the
Acura's as they appear to be nothing more then an
upscale Honda. I'll have to show her an Acura or
two and see what she thinks.

Ian

The Acura TSX is actually the European and Japanese Accord. The one
they sell in North America was designed for North America. It's
smaller then the one in North America but it has a better 4 cylinder
in it. The one Acura dealer I can recommend if you are in the GTA is
Acura East in Ajax. My brother bought his EL there and has been given
great service by everyone there.
