With 30,000 km from new, my accord wore out its rear brake pads with the front ones 50% worn. This seems weird to me ..... anyone had similar experience or should I query binding pads ? --
My Accord 1998 still has the original brakes, recently I had the 72,000 km done on my car, the result indicate that the front brakes are down to 40% and the rear brakes 70%. Normally the front brakes should wear faster than the rear brakes, it seems to be a little premature to have the rear brakes replaced at 30,000 km.
Not really. Assuming the rear rotors aren't vented like the fronts, they generate much more heat and thus cause the pads to wear out faster. Besides, the rear pads are usually thinner to begin with. Pete
My car too has brakes worn like 90% at 25K miles. We had it checked at another place and he also recommended replacing. Looks like they are not covered by warrenty... somethings wrong... 25K and new brakes doesn't make sense. Does Honda have any recalls outstanding?
I also have a 2003 Accord. I complained about the brakes at 3000 miles. I felt they were touchy and grabby especially at slow speeds. At 25,000 miles the brakes were much worse. Took it back to the dealer, expecting to pay for new pads, possibly rotors. They replaced the pads and rotors no charge.
On 2003 Accord brakes? I haven't received any notice from Honda other than the one on the 5-speed automatic. Ron
Both of them are worn 90% or more... The guy at shop who inspected them also said that rotors have grooves that make car vibrate when braking at fast speeds. I am taking it to dealer tomorrow... I hope its covered by warrenty. Otherwise my next car is not going to be Honda for sure!
If they are evenly worn, the warranty will not cover it. Sounds like somebody in your household is riding the brake pedal. They won't be covered on you next car either (whatever make it might be).
