According to my independent mechanic, error code P1399 is undocumented --
and of course my Civic has it. Does anyone know what the code means?

    Thanks -- RB

That's a trojan virus hacked in by a disgruntled UAW member.

Get it read out by a Honda repair shop. His scanner may be the problem......

Enter the code at this site: http://www.iequus.com/3100.asp?CatShort=CodeDef
It says it is a random/multiple cylinder misfire......

    it's not a valid code on a 2000 civic. sure it wasn't a p9999? that
was a quirk in software on the si that actually meant p0420 catalyst
    deterioration.
could be a crappy code reader.

Thanks all -- I took the car into a Honda dealer. Their made-for-Honda code
reader did not report this error code. So it would appear that the general
purpose code reader gave a bad result.

Either that or Mr. independent mechanic was trying to rip you off on repairs
    you didn't need.

Or maybe he cleared the code to see if it returns....
