    Whats up people,

Last night I was driving in North Florida with about a quarter of a tank
of gas and my engine light came on. There doesn't seem to be anything
wrong with the performance of the car, since the light has come on. I
read another link about a 2000 DX having cold climate problems, but being
in florida isn't nearly as cold as 20 below. I also checked to make sure
the gas cap was tight, someone told me that could be the case, but that
all checked out. Anyone have any ideas????

    Thanks

    Sure.

The MIL will illuminate when either of these two conditions occur:
    1) A sensor has read out of range
    2) The ECU has determined that the engine has emitted more than 1.5 times
the federal emissions limit for your car for a specified length of time.

Go to AutoZone or other place with an OBD-II reader and get the error code
read (apparently AZ will do it for free). It will be something like P0xxx
or P1xxx (xxx being three numerals specific to the error experienced). The
OBD-II reader will also tell you what the code means.

Until you do this, you--and we--know...zero.

I had the same thing happen to me earlier this summer. My buddy hooked up a
code reader and it turned out to be a sensor located on the top of the gas
tank. It was fairly cheap to replace. He says it seems to be a common
thing in these civics. My is a 99LX.

    Cheers,

This post is an excellent example of Honda quality going down the
drain. See so many others on 'Honda' and 'Quality'. They just cannot
produce high quality cars at the same rates some other manufacturers
    (esp. GM now) can.

    ROFL.

that rates a 5, maybe. honda has a long way to slip before theyre at GM
    levels.

That was true a few years ago, but things have changed dramatically.

  7. Hmmm, where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, in the 1970s and the
    1980s and the 1990s...
