1997 honda civic ex -gas mileage

    my gas mileage has dropped 40% in the last 2 weeks. When i drive the
    car and press the gas sometimes it doesnt respond, it acts as though
    the gas has finished and then suddenly revs up.

    any ideas what i need?

    oxygen sensor, fuel filter causing the mileage to drop so much?

    thanks

    PS I changed the plugs, wires

    i tried looking but could not locate the pcv valve. i see a tube runing
    from air filter housing to engine block but when i open the 2 clips
    closer to the air cleaner i see no pcv valve simply a rubber connector
    tube

    could it be missing a pcv valve altogether or maybe im looking wrong
    place?/
