My Accord hood will not lock close. The hood opener mechanism (in the car
under the dash) is very loose.

No accidents that I know of.

How to I get the hood to lock close?

    Thanks.

The latch under the hood is corroded and sticky.

Get some WD-40 and give the underhood latch mechanism a good soak, then let
the hood slam shut. Then lift it up and drop it again several more times.
You're trying to shock the latch into moving again. Once it starts locking
again, pull the dash lever back and forth repeately to loosen the latch up
    more.

Give the latch regular doses of WD-40 to prevent a recurrence.

  3. Try spraying a little wd-40 on the lock mechaism while working the
opening mechanism. You will probably need a helper unless you have reall
    long arms. :)
