So, my 1991 Honda Accord LX was stolen. I got it back, with surprisingly minimal damage and had to buy my own property back from the towing company. Pretty cool, but could have been way worse of course. There's the necessary backstory, because the only thing damaged was the ignition lock cylinder (they used the old screwdriver trick). The only thing I have not been able to repair is what is pictured below... now does anyone know what in the hell this switch does?
Everything appears to light right up without it, the only problem I'm having is it seems like the starter continues to fire after the car has started.... Could this be a switch with shuts off the starter once the vehicle has started??
That little metal tab on top inserts into the lock cylinder itself, appearing to be switched as the ignition is turned. It was damaged by the theft and so it was preventing the new cylinder from turning, which is why I removed it... but I'm still not sure what it does.
It is located on the bottom of the ignition cylinder so that the metal tab stick straight up into it.
