I have a 1990 Honda Accord and yesterday I saw a flashing "s" under the
    temperature gauge.
Then the speedometer stopped working (It started to work again, but then it
    quit), and my check
engine light came on about 10 minutes later.
The car's performance is still great, but I would like to know what the "S"
    means and why the
check engine light came on and the speedometer stopped working.
    Are they related? Any answers?

The problem is a bad speed sensor . It is mounted on the backside of the
trans. It has a 3 pin plug and is held in place by 2 bolts. Fairly easy to
    replace.
